This is actually one of twelve pieces for my college portfolio aka the "concentration". I'm really pleased with how it turned out! ^^ It was done with copic markers and sakura ink pens (of course!).
They are obviously in the Shadow Realm- why else would they have their wings. Can't say exactly WHERE they are within the realm. Unfortunately, despite the Shadow Realm's frequent apperances.... it's dreadfully underdeveloped. -_-
I have to say, the detail in the feathers... the wings themselves... TOOK FOREVER. But it was TOTALLY worth it. Otherwise, Anonymous's wings would have appeared... metallic.
I really have no honest explanation as to what those orange bubble-like balls are in the "water" (or whatever the liquid is....), but... they're there. I'll think of something.
It was really something to create the dragon within the egg! I'd never done anything like it. Not only that, but the contrast and change in light coming from the surface. ^^ I feel accomplished. I can't wait to post more of each of my twelve as they are finished! I know you'll love it!
A little bit of info: The Black Dragon is like a sacred artifact to the shadow-shades. The most well known of the shadow-shades, of course, are the Shinobi Twelve (and Kosuno lol). Every 13th year, the dragon is reborn beneath the surface of (wherever they are....), thus the Twelve must retrieve the egg before it hatches else the dragon will drown. It is similar to the Phoenix. Intrestingly enough, the Phoenix is the symbol of Satsuno (which is Rioku and Reiko's homeland). I've been developing plainly a lot of the countries culture. Still have a mightly lot of it to do, but I'm hoping once it's done.... I can finally get started on writing the stupid book. heh.
Something Tolkien said, "If you don't draw a map first, you never will". I loosely quoted it... but anyhow, I'm working on the world map and developing the countries... just as I did my characters. Shouldn't take too long, it should be fun! ^^
ahhh, the colors, oh Lord the COLORS... the wings, the little etches and cross-hatches, you're spectacular. So worth it, I can't wait to see the rest of your portfolio.
Ahhhhhhhhh I can't wait to show u!!!! I am so excited! I ended up changing it up a bit- I do think u will totally like!!!! Sometime- if u have Netflix- look up the Secret of Kells. It is an Irish made film- and it is SO beautiful. Get past the beginning and I guarantee u will absolutely ADORE IT!!!!!
haha, I got to see The Secret of Kells this week--- it is so very beautiful indeed! I just love the curves and the aesthetics; its definitely great. Thanks for recommending it!
My pleasure Tomoko-sama! I have based my twelve piece concentration on the movie! I can't wait to show you! I did my best to imitate Barry Reynolds' style, as seen in the Secret of Kells, while staying true to my own. It's been incredibly fun and a growing experience. So far, I am very pleased with the results! Hopefully some time next week I can upload a ton of my recent pieces! (´~` speaking of which.... I need to go work on them because five are due Friday and I only have one done!!!!
Definitely looking forward to it! I'm sure you've done some intricate and stylish (as well as beautiful) works. Always with that special Sweey fusion to it! Should be nothing short of spectacular.
(apologies for the late reply, school's got me up and about, haha.)
